Overview
Psychiatry is the branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, study, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various abnormalities related to mood, behaviour, cognition, and perceptions. This subject is included in the course of MBBS as a allied subject of the Medicine. The purpose of this subject is to enable a student to understand the concept of psychiatric disorders and their classification and to apply this knowledge to diagnose and treat common psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia, acute manic episode, depression, anxiety disorders including phobias and OCD, conversion and dissociative disorders

- OPD chambers for faculty & residents.
- The OPD consultation and medical procedure services on weekdays from 9:00 am 5.00 pm
- Clinic area for OPD for hospital based teaching.
- Indoor services for patients requiring admission in hospital.
- Indoor facilities with facilities of ECT, pharmacotherapy and psychotherapies for Patients
- Diagnostic facilities e.g. EEG
- Center for counselling to the patients with psychosomatic disorders
- Dedicated specialty clinics in OPD as Child Psychiatry clinic, Sex clinic, Geriatric clinic.
- Periodical Health Education services as exhibition & workshops on stress and time management for community
- Health Education camps for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of psychosomatic disorders.
