Overview
Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, nails, hair and its diseases. It is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. The department aims to impart training to the students to diagnose and manage common skin diseases. Students have the clinical teaching and demonstrations of all the common skin diseases sexually transmitted diseases, leprosy and common skin emergencies during their training period.

Facilities and Services
- OPD chambers for faculty & residents.
- Clinic area for OPD for hospital based teaching.
- Facilites for inpatients requiring admission in hospital.
- OPD service for patients with Leprosy, sexually transmitted diseases & various dermatological conditions with minor surgical and cosmetic procedures
- Facilities of cryosurgery unit, phototherapy unit, radiofrequency unit, iontophoresis unit, electroquatery and electroepilation unit.
- Facilities for patch testing, pealing, cryotherapy, Microdermabrasion and other procedures
- Periodical Health Education services as exhibition & workshops on stress and time management for community
- Health Education camps for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of psychosomatic disorders.
Teaching/Training Activities
The curriculum has been prepared in pursuance of MCI regulations and comences in the 3rd semester of the MBBS program as allied subject of Medicine and continues up to 9th semester. The students are posted in batches for clinical training to learn clinical skills, for the duration prescribed by the MCI, and encouraged to practice practice these skills on patients under direct guidance of faculty. Lecures, small group discussion and problem based tutorial are also organised for development of comprehension, analysis and communication skills. Students are also encluraged to participate in regular bedside clinic and integrated seminar, case presentation skill sessions are also organised for undergraduate students.
